In Phantasia 2007, Psophonia found itself drawn to technology and the advancements made in how the world now communicates stemming from the growth of World Wide Web to virtual worlds to constant contact through emails and cell phones. Focused on these technological enhancements, we questioned do these things make us better? Knowing how critical and vital these forms of communication are to our everyday lives, how are we affected? Is the outcome positive in that technology is being etched in our everyday lives making us better, kinder, or more compassionate human beings? Is there a loss? Like a muscle that is never used atrophies, are we losing the ability and even desire to emotionally connect with one another because we are extracting those experiences for a chance to operate on a higher level of efficiency? We found these ideas fascinating to explore in this concert.
