In celebration of Spacetaker’s recent accomplishments, we are thrilled to announce the 6th Annual Spacetaker Gala: APOCALYPTO on Saturday, March 20th, 2010 at the Winter Street Studios. A spectacular evening of Mad Max-inspired revelry, this year’s gala will honor Founder David A. Brown and his eight years of dedicated service to Houston’s art community through Spacetaker. Over 800 guests will join the festivities at Winter Street’s own Thunderdome for a decadent display of food, drink, music, dance, theatre, and art! Spacetaker’s Board of Directors invites you to be part of this animated celebration of Houston’s rich, diverse arts scene.
2009 was a hallmark year for Spacetaker in its mission to provide artists and non-profits access to economic development, continuing education, and networking opportunities to support their professional growth. We’ve expanded Spacetaker’s programming and services with renewed determination to support emerging artists and cultivate more revenue-generating opportunities for art professionals. In 2009:
- -Spacetaker's Artist Resource Center (ARC) hosted 24 free professional development workshops for artists and arts organizations, assisting over 1,200 individuals.
- -Spacetaker placed over $57,000 in the hands of more than 160 local artists and raised roughly $8,000 for local nonprofit arts organizations.
- -Through its programming, Spacetaker collaborated with over 50 Houston-area nonprofit organizations and directly impacted over 7,000 Houstonians.
