Community Supported Art (CSA)

Community Supported Art at, new to Houston, brought to you by Fresh Arts in 2013

Fresh Arts is excited to bring Houston a new and unique way to buy original artwork and support the local art scene. In the fall of 2014, six artists will be commissioned by Fresh Arts to create 50 original works of art, which will be bundled and sold as 'shares'. In other words, 50 lucky patrons will enjoy an affordable sampling of artwork from six of the most exciting artists working in our community.

Instead of picking up all the artwork at once, collectors are invited to pick up 3 pieces at a time from 2 informal community 'pick-up' parties slated for March and April, giving collectors and artists a chance to become acquainted and build connections while having a great time.

ABOUT THE C.S.A.
Over the last 20 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy seasonal food directly from local farms. With the same buy-direct, buy-local spirit in mind, mnartists.org and Springboard for the Arts created a similar endeavor to support local art, artists, and collectors. Community Supported Art is an exciting new model of art support and distribution that supports artists in the creation of new work and establishes relationships with local collectors and patrons.

Just like the motivations behind our annual Winter Holiday Art Market, we not only believe in creating new and greater opportunities for our city’s independent artists to generate income, but creating more opportunities for new collectors to invest in our art community and build meaningful relationships with those artists. Clearly, bringing a CSA program to Houston was just a logical extension of Fresh Arts' current slate of offerings. And it is an honor to host the first CSA in the state of Texas.
