Dante Marioni: Recent Glass Works Opens at Wade Wilson Art

Wade Wilson Art is pleased to announce an exhibit of works by glass artist Dante Marioni. The exhibit opens on September 1, 2010 and will remain on view through October 2, 2010. A reception for the public will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010. Wade Wilson Art is located at 4411 Montrose Blvd., Suite 200, Houston, Texas, 77006. For more information, please visit www.wadewilsonart.com.

Marioni is known to be the leading glass artist of his generation.  In the book titled, Dante Marioni: Blown Glass, author Tina Oldknow writes, “Dante Marioni is a Seattle artist whose graceful, blown-glass vessels are internationally recognized for their vibrant color and classic design.”   She also comments, “For Marioni, making objects is about the art of glassblowing rather than the creation of glass art, the process rather than the result. His elegant works are the radiant record of his ongoing relationship with this material.“

Marioni studied at Pilchuk Glass Studio with legendary glass artist Dale Chihuly (with whom he still works). He is a recipient of the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation award, and also received the “Outstanding Achievement in Glass, Urbanglass Award,” among others.
