Jubilee of Dance: 40th Anniversary Celebration

Houston Ballet.  Houston Ballet celebrates its 40th anniversary in grand style with a one-night only program. Performances will include:  solo and pas de deux performances from Simon Ball, Ian Casady, Amy Fote, Mireille Hassenboehler, Melody Herrera, Connor Walsh, Sara Webb, Nicholas Leschke and Kelly Myernick. Excerpts from several ballets will be performed, including:  Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch’s 1996 work Maninyas, his 2005 work Falling, and his 2000 work Fingerprints.  The 2009 Jubilee of Dance will also pay tribute to Barbara Bears, who will retire from the stage in December 2009.  In honor of her final performance, Ms. Bears will dance The Dying Swan.
