Mosaic Theatre Company presents This is Our Youth by Kenneth Lonergan
Opens October 21, 2010
Mosaic Theatre Company proudly presents the inaugural production of its Main Stage Series, This is Our Youth, by Kenneth Longergan.
Dennis and Warren are trying, and failing, to make it in Manhattan. After Warren steals $15,000 from his father, and lugs it back to Dennis’s apartment in a suitcase, the two decide to use the money to sell cocaine, with disastrous results. This darkly comic, satiric, and bittersweet play takes a look at the drastic and dangerous measures young people will take to forge their own path. First produced in 1996 to great acclaim, this Drama Desk Award nominated play explores the disillusionment of three pampered young adults and their subsequent struggles with drug abuse.
Mosaic Theatre Company takes an innovative approach to theatre’s role in the community by presenting plays that use the art of theatre to address important social issues. In order to raise awareness and create a dialogue between the arts and social causes, Mosaic partners with organizations that specifically address those issues. Mosaic’s partner organization for this production will be The Palmer Drug Abuse Program (PDAP). PDAP has been providing free substance abuse recovery services to youth ages 12-25 and their parents in the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area since 1971. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to PDAP at the close of the production.
