The White Oak Trio will be premiering David Bernstein’s Winter Sunlight and Shadow, written for them in 2009, and his arrangement of Estrellita, also written for them and premiered in 2008. In addition they will be performing the Café Music of Paul Schoenfield, and music by Barber. Known for its high standards of ensemble playing, the White Oak Trio is a Houston based professional music ensemble formed by three musicians: Steven McMillan, violin, Meryl Ettelson, piano, and Barrett Sills, cello. The unique and colorful combination of these three instruments (violin, piano, and cello) has long inspired composers to produce some of their greatest works. The White Oak Trio follows an original artistic journey through this great repertoire based on the musical instincts of its players. Additional performers include Raúl Orlando Edwards (baritone) and Paul Boyd (piano).
