Artist Michel Muylle to be featured during White Linen Night August 7
(HOUSTON -- July 29, 2010) Michel Muylle has always loved art. Most of his closest friends are artists, and he has been an avid art collector for several years. Only recently, Muylle realized that he also enjoys creating art.
After studying to be an engineer, obtaining a management degree and building a career in a multinational oil and gas company, the Belgium native decided to explore his artistic side. He enrolled in classes at the Glassell School of Art in Houston and found a strong connection with various media, from pastels and charcoal to acrylic and oil paint. His paintings have already appeared at various fundraising events, but he will have his first public showing this Saturday in conjunction with White Linen Night in the Houston Heights.
Michel Muylle will display a recently completed series of monochromatic abstract paintings at Pila Tea House in the Houston Heights. A reception will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 7 at the Pila Tea House, located at 632 West 20th Street in Houston, TX 77008-3618.
The paintings explore light and color, and Muylle describes his work as soothing and meditative. “Being an engineer by background, but with major turmoil in my life in the last five years, the rigorous application of a single color in a structured pattern helps sooth my mind,” he said.
Billed as "Sultry, Steamy, Exotic," White Linen Night is scheduled from 6 to10 p.m. Saturday, August 7. The Houston Heights invites visitors and art lovers to wear white linen, explore the neighborhood and celebrate.
