CITY DANCE COMPANY MEMBERS KICK-UP THEIR HEELS, IN THEIR SECOND ANNUAL TUTU WALK/RUN, TO SUPPORT DEPELCHIN CHILDREN’S CENTER
Houston, TX – On Saturday, March 31, the performers of Houston’s City Dance Company are taking their tutus and talents to Rice University’s trail. City Dance welcomes individuals of all ages to rally together in the Second Annual 5K Tutu Walk/Run to support DePelchin Children’s Center. The event also includes a 1K walk. Check-in for the event begins at 8:00 a.m. in the uncovered parking lot at Brian O’Neill’s Pub and Restaurant, 5555 Morningside, followed by the walk/run at 9:45 a.m. Participants are encouraged to wear vibrant tutus in order to publicize the art of dance through community service. Tutus are available for $12/tutu. They may be pre-ordered during on-line registration, or a limited number of tutus will be available for purchase the day of the race.
DePelchin Children’s Center is committed to meeting the needs of Houston’s children and is the largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health, prevention and early intervention, and foster care and adoption services in the Houston area. Thus, City Dance, itself involved in encouraging children and teens to develop positive self-images, saw DePelchin as a perfect organization to team up with.
Dancers from City Dance will perform just before the walk/run begins and DJ Kleancutt of the Kracker Nuttzwill be DJing the event.
City Dance Company is a non-profit performing arts organization that strives to develop the personal character and talents of its students. Artistic director Sherese Campbell inspires her students to develop an ongoing passion to expand and use their talents to help their communities. The Second Annual 5K Tutu Walk/Run event will allow these performers to encourage others to help those in need, while demonstrating their immense devotion to serving their community.
