McWhorter Gallery “Touch” exhibit to focus on human form

(HOUSTON)  McWhorter Gallery presents “Touch,” a group exhibit featuring new paintings by David Addickes and other Houston artists, including Ian Anderson, Belinda Smith, Justin Garcia, Roberto Del Rio, Kevin Peterson, Kelley Devine, Jane Dipaolo, Taft McWhorter and Lindsay Peyton.  An opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 27 at the gallery’s new location at 2119 Canal Street.

“There is nothing more profound and engaging than the human form,” said gallery owner Taft McWhorter.  “The Touch Exhibit will have a very sensual feel and is intended for adults, but the work will be refined and tasteful. The interpretation of the human figure by the different artists is fascinating”

The paintings and sculptures exhibited will demonstrate a range in media, subject and style, but will all focus on the human form.  All of the artists represented by the Gallery are Houstonians.

“We distinguish our gallery by showing only Houston artists,” gallery director Lindsay Peyton said.  “We are thrilled to be showing David Addickes.  His paintings and sculptures are well known not only locally but throughout the world.  He is a legend.”

The gallery also offers consulting services for artists, as well as an art rental program for area businesses.
“We want to do what we can to help the Houston art community grow,” McWhorter said.
