The Glassell Studio School is pleased to introduce JEFF FORSTER as new faculty in the Ceramics Department. Jeff comes to Glassell with over ten years of teaching experience, most recently with Lone Star College in Montgomery County and North Harris College, and is currently an artist-in-residence with the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Jeff has a BA in Art Education from Saint John´s University and a MFA in Ceramics from Southern Illinois University.

Jeff is on the National Council for Education of the Ceramic Arts and is a member of the Clay Houston Organization. His work has been shown across the U.S., including The Art Studio Inc. in Beaumont, the Gallery of the Art Institute of Phoenix in Arizona and Colaciello Gallery in West Palm Beach, Fla. Jeff brings a new energy and insight to the department, and has spent much of the fall semester surveying current ceramics students to better direct course and workshop offerings.

For Spring 2010, Glassell will offer a full schedule of ceramics studio courses for beginning, intermediate and advanced students, as well as several specialized workshops. Spring semester registration begins on January 5, 2010. Course descriptions are available in the Spring Course Schedule.

For those students who may have drifted from Ceramics over the years, or for those looking to try a new medium, Glassell encourages students to revisit the Ceramics Department.

After teaching at Glassell and serving as Department Head for six years, Shane Tidmore has accepted a new position with the Houston Independent School District and will be leaving the Glassell Studio School as a full-time faculty member. While Glassell is very sorry to see Shane go, we wish him only the best with his new position.
