Spacetaker is pleased to announce the call for entries for its 5th annual Winter Holiday Art Market (WHAM), a three-day art sale and celebration of Houston’s diverse creative community that draws crowds of up to 2,500 interested art-buyers. Artists of all genres are encouraged to submit entries for participation. This year, WHAM will kick off with an exclusive Preview Party on Friday, November 19 (6 – 10 p.m.) and the regular market will take place Saturday, November 20 (11 – 8 p.m.) and Sunday, November 21 (11 – 4 p.m.) at Winter Street Studios, 2101 Winter St., Houston, TX 77007.
Any type of original artwork or craft may be submitted for consideration in WHAM, including all forms of fine art, sculpture, stationery, bath and body products, handbags, clothing, ornaments, jewelry, and other goods. The fee for WHAM is $95, which includes registration, exhibition space, tables, chairs, linens, and all event management and administration. 75 percent of the selling price goes to the artist, and the remaining 25 percent goes to Spacetaker to cover remaining event expenses. Since its launch, WHAM has generated more than $166,000 for more than 200 local artists and continues to grow as an important venue for Houston artists. From 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, November 19, during the Preview Party, Spacetaker will host a private Vendor Reception to cultivate ongoing relationships between artists and those gallerists and boutique buyers who can market their work year-round.
Artists are invited to submit to WHAM by logging in and following the registration directions at www.winterholidayartmarket.com. The deadline to submit entries is September 10, 2010. All submissions will be reviewed by a jury of arts professionals and artists will be notified of their invitation to WHAM by September 20th.
