Fall Fieldwork Workshop

A Mixed Discipline Workgroup for independent artists: Choreographers, musicians, composers, writers, poets, playwrights, performance artists, filmmakers, visual artists, and artists who merge the disciplines

CORE (formerly Several Dancers Core) presents the Fall 2010 session of Fieldwork, a creative workshop series that brings artists together to show their developing works and exchange feedback on a regular basis. Fieldwork sessions are designed for artists working in various disciplines including Dance, Theater, and Writing.

The Fieldwork method originated in New York over 25 years ago, and CORE has been offering Fieldwork workshops for the Houston arts community since 1992. The workshops will provide support, structure, and community to help artists immerse themselves fully in their creative work. The feedback method reveals how each piece is perceived by others and provides detailed information that helps artists hone their vision. By focusing on what's happening in the work and how those choices shape the work, Fieldwork supports autonomy and authorship of each artist.

The facilitator for Fall 2010 will be Lydia Hance, dancer with Suchu Dance and formerly with Ad Deum Dance Company, teacher with CORE's Dynamic X-Change Healing Arts program and director of the new company, Frame Dance Productions, a company integrating dance and technology.

The session begins Wednesday, September 8 and continues bi-weekly through November 3. The informal showcase will be held on Sunday, November 7. For those interested in learning more about Fieldwork before registering, you may attend the first session on September 8 free of charge.
