Houston Community College is seeking to fill a full-time teaching position in Dance at Central College. We are seeking a dynamic individual with the ability to teach several of the following: ballet, modern dance, jazz dance, world dance forms (Polynesian, African, Asian, European), Dance Appreciation and Anatomy & Kinesiology. Other responsibilities would include producing and directing dance concerts and studio events. In addition, the position will involve management of the Dance Studio. In exchange for these management duties, teaching load may be reduced. Dance courses are offered days, nights, and weekends as well as hybrid and distance.
Houston Community College System is one of the largest community colleges in the nation with six campuses around the city. Central College is located in the fine arts corridor of Houston within minutes of major performing arts venues and museums that provide excellent teaching opportunities for our faculty. Houston’s vibrant dance scene is enjoying a period of rapid growth and this international city supports the creative energy of emerging and established dance companies. One of the following is required from an accredited institution: 1) Master's degree with eighteen (18) graduate hours in Dance; OR 2) Master’s Degree in Dance. MFA in Dance preferred. Prior teaching experience at the college level is preferred. This is a nine-month position with full benefits. Summer teaching extensions are available. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
