Hours/Pay:
Position is part time and contract-based. Project begins in late May 2010 and runs through late August/early September 2010 (estimated time frame of 10-12 weeks). The total pay for this contract-based project is not to exceed $3,000. Potential opportunity for future projects on an as-needed basis.
Purpose:
Coordinate overall content and production of the member newsletter, Articulate, for the Blanton Museum of Art. Work with various museum staff to develop appropriate content, and copywrite and edit to provide a singular institutional voice. Work with the museum’s membership staff and contracted graphic designers on the design and development of the newsletter.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create outline of editorial content
- Attend editorial meetings with Blanton staff stakeholders
- Create production schedule and deadlines, including coordination of edits by Blanton staff stakeholders
- Conduct interviews for articles and gather information for inclusion in the newsletter
- Write content and copy edit (includes utilizing In Copy editing software)
Required qualifications:
Ability to demonstrate the following qualifications: Four years experience in copywriting and editing. Four years experience writing magazine or newsletter copy. Excellent writing skills. Interviewing skills and the ability to streamline information from multiple sources into a singular voice. Superior proofreading skills and highly knowledgeable on grammar, spelling, usage and style. Excellent attention to detail, consistency, and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines as assigned.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with non-profit institutions and knowledge of art/art history.
Offer of contract position is contingent upon the successful passing of a security background check.
