Art League Houston (ALH) was founded in 1948 and incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1953. The mission of ALH is to cultivate awareness, appreciation, and accessibility of contemporary visual art within the community for its cultural enrichment. Art League Houston fulfills its mission through exhibitions, the Art League School, its annual Texas Artist of the Year program, and extensive outreach programming.

Each season, ALH presents contemporary art in a variety of media in its two gallery spaces. ALH implements an open call for proposals for its Main Gallery, inviting artists to submit proposals for review by a programming committee. ALH’s Project Gallery is programmed by the ALH staff.

Founded in 1968, the Art League School offers a variety of classes for both the professional and novice student. Classes include printmaking, jewelry, painting in a variety of media and styles, drawing, and collage.
