Anne Joelle expresses life and joy in her paintings, monotypes and prints. While her work is strongly influenced by Mexican art and the vibrant colors found in Mexico, Galley has spent many years traveling and studying art internationally. In Europe, she joined independent studios in Switzerland and London and attended art courses at Sotheby´s and ICA/Christies also in London. Later, in New York, she became a member of the Art Students League of New-York and participated in numerous group exhibitions. She had her first solo show in Manhattan, in 2002. Now, settled in Houston--where she studied at the Glassell School of Art and participated in the Art League of Houston--she continues to exhibit internationally and is very active in the Local Art Scene.  She is also currently a member of the Visual Arts Alliance of Houston, Art Students League of New York and ISMA Estudio.

Art brings you a breath of freshness and happiness, in a world whose reality can at times be somber.

I use bold colors and free movements to convey Color Impressions that sparkle with life and joy.

My paintings, Mono-types and prints are strongly influenced by Mexican Art and by the intense colors found throughout Mexico. Colors, through their vibrancy, are my signature and the strength of my expression. Throughout the years, Mexican Colors have amalgamated my style, giving continuity to my work.

I can not explain it better than Matisse did in his "Notes of a Painter" (1908), originally published as "Notes d'un Peintre" in La Grande Revue (Paris), 25 December 1908, pp 731-745: "The chief aim of color should be to serve expression as well as possible. I put down my colors without a preconceived plan. (…) I discover the quality of colors in a purely instinctive way. (…)"

I often work directly with my fingers, on paper, board or canvas, thus "building up" the painting or Mono-type, much like a sculpture. Prints are often collaged with colored “Chine Collée”.
