I was born and raised in Port Arthur Texas, hometown of Robert Rauschenberg and Janis Joplin...which could lead one to postulate that the intense oppression of the southern bible belt sometimes breeds rebels of extreme brilliance. I hold a BFA from Lamar University, Beaumont. I am primarily a "painter" though I actually use oil pastels for most of my work. I am new to the Houston area and am looking forward to becoming a part of the local art community.
The vivid colors come from my strong desire to be heard after forty years of internal and external oppression. The iconic imagery stems from my dissillusionment with my religious upbringing. the use of runes gives me a chance to use the written word to make a statement yet still maintain a degree of privacy/safety
