Artist Lori Betz has studied and exhibited her art work all over the world and ten years ago decided to open her studio and gallery in Houston, Texas. She explains that she has studied with as many different instructors from all over the world as possible so that she  could learn  from each of them something unique. A few instructors she has studied with would include artist Alan Bain in Procopia , Greece and in Cortona, Italy with artist Alex Deya and raku with the famous artist, Paul Soldner.  She spent a year in Japan at the Shigaraki Cultural Institute as an artist in residence and one of her pieces is part of their permanent collection. She came back to the United States to pursue a masters degree in studio art but part way through  decided that institutionalized study could only take her so far and decided to open her own gallery and to immerse herself in the process. Lori Betz is a sculptor as well as a painter and recently completed and bronze monument for the Pearland, Texas Chamber of Commerce. Betz Art Gallery is located in the heart of Houston at 1208 W. Gray, near the River Oaks shopping center and is open wednesday through sunday from 10am to 6pm, and is a place where interested art lovers can see original works of art and also visit a working artist studio.  Betz says
“ I am trying to create a place for artists to come together and share their  knowledge and creativity.  I mentor emerging artists and host public events that will bring culture and art to the local community.”
