LULART FUSED GLASS ART

ap_tabs

As a kiln formed glass artist I’d love to be part of your project which would offer me the opportunity of revealing some of my capabilities, along with creativity and background experience.

My proposition is to work hand in hand with all involved on the project in order to achieve the most appropriate combination of styles with one of a kind custom glass handcrafted pieces.

Due to its unique properties, glass continues to be an intriguing material that can reflect, transmit or absorb light. It creates a surprise element which will bring eclectic interest to a space without becoming overbearing.

Inspired by a passion for glass, artist Lula Torgersen will work with you to achieve fully customized pieces to meet your needs, from classic to contemporary, using subtle or exotic colors to add a striking touch.

I’m looking forward to have the chance to complete great results together!

Lula Torgersen was born and raised in Brazil. Her artistic vein runs in the family. Her parents paint and own an art gallery in Rio de Janeiro. After marriage, she started an expatriate life that has broadened her perspective. The cultural aspects from her country of origin as well as those other nations she has visited inspire her every day. Colors and nature play an important role in her work. Originally a graphic designer, she hasn’t limited herself to printed materials. She has explored an incredible variety of media in order to express her inner emotions. Once she found glass, though, she found herself.

These fused glass pieces were created by Lula Torgersen in her Houston, Texas studio. Each unique piece evolves from the hands and heart of the artist who insists in never repeating the same project.

The slabs of glass are added with strings, frits, metal inserts, powders to achieve organic, extraordinary designs to functional and decorative bowls, platters and flat sculptures. They are then fired to around 1500 degrees F. The high temperatures melt the glass fragments incorporating them into a new beauty.  Results can be unexpected, always assuring there will never be another pieces just like yours!

The delicate aspect of these pieces is  very soothing to the eyes and mind relaxing. Perfect addition to a reading facility, such as a library!

“Crafts have been part of my life from the beginning. My artist parents raised me in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I learned from a young age to explore a variety of materials to express myself. My passion for glasswork started on my first visit to Murano, Italy. While living for a few years in Denmark I had the chance to travel around, visiting every studio and factory throughout Scandinavia and observing the various techniques. Finally I discovered glass fusing. It was love at first try. Since then my passion for glasswork has consumed my mind day and night. Many of my pieces reflect my experiences from back home or the influences I’ve accumulated through years of my expatriate life.”
