Through video and installation, Hillerbrand and Magsamen navigate between art and cultural geography to explore perceptions of language, identity, media, and family within a uniquely American subjectivity. They use their immediate environment and conditions to depict and distort space and time and reflect our everyday visual vocabulary and human experiences. The suburban environment they inhabit functions as a base from which to leap into bigger ideas and visually rich, engaging imagery.
