Skippy   8” X 5” X 4”

This hollow form is turned with an off-center foot and colored with aniline dye.  The incised Ebony triangle adds a sense of movement and direction to the piece.   Three off -center turned Ebony feet allow the piece to mischievously lean.

“I draw inspiration for my designs from nature, from my dreams, and from my life experiences. I strive to produce unexpected, and often playful forms that reveal not only the exotic character of the wood, but that also have a lasting esthetic value of their own. I find creative balance and satisfaction in manipulating the forms I can produce on the lathe. The unique character of each piece of wood plays an important role in the finished piece. I must work with that given character and pull together a work that honors as well as embellishes what nature has provided. Special modifications and effects such as coloring and texturing, and the addition of materials other than wood contribute to the appearance I have in mind. I find it very satisfying to know that by being beautiful and at times functional, my objects can enhance the quality of life of their owners.”
