tito and fabian are two split personalities that I have. Combined they culminate into my work, hence
my name. tito comes from my mother who is from Matamoros, Mexico, this was her nickname and
since she is the one person who taught me how to draw, I dedicate all of my art to her, she showed me
the importance of having compassion and emotion towards everything. Fabian is my given name
from my father who is from Bogota, Colombia, he taught me the significance of ideas and theory
within any kind of work, he forced me to read the works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez which lead me to inevitably read Nietzsche, and Jorge Luis Borges to name a few. He showed me life from a pessimistic, nihilistic perspective; where
nothing is pure luck, but cause and effect. Which I imply into my work ethic.
tito is sporadic,
irregular, spontaneous, and relies on pure emotion for his decisions. Fabian is the ying to tito’s yang,
fabian is more about functionality, reason, and thought. I base all my work on aesthetic and emotional
communication on any kind of work at hand, however none of my pieces are simply arbitrary and/or
abstract, all have a meaning. Fabian focuses on political, philosophical, historical, and intellectual
subjects such as religion, poverty, social issues, and etc in order to cause a positive change in society.
It is with these two contradicting ideologies that allow me to express myself in a unique way. I feel
that the majority of artists are not talking or bringing up, or even caring about these topics that are
necessary to see a valid change in society, I seek to do this through my art. I am universal in my work,
I touch all subjects, no matter the topic, no matter the language, race, nationality, religion, I relate to
all because I am human, I feel all. I do not concentrate on my race, my religion, my life; I focus on
everyone’s, especially the forgotten, the one’s in most misery. The sick, the poor, the hopeless the
needy are my motivation and inspiration.
